I would appreciate your help in finding an honest mechanic to provide service for my 1996 SAAB 9000 Aero. I am reluctant to spend the money at the local Cadillac dealer. Thanks.

I am a big believer in dealerships. Why, because the technicians there are trained to work specifically on your vehicle. When you go to an outside shop you take the risk of spending more money because they may not know your vehicle to fix it right the first time.
That being said, I would search the ASE certified shops in your area. They will include aftermarket shops as well as dealerships. These are shops that have certified technicians working for them. You can also ask your friends and family of places they recommend. Usually this is the best way to find a good technician.
